Frequently Asked Questions
What is the role of a Physician Assistant?

A Physician Assistant (PA) is a mid-level practitioner, that is supervised by a physician, but often works independently and is able to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients. They can order diagnostic tests, including x-rays, MRIs etc. and depending on the state, prescribe medications. Our PAs are in frequent communication with Dr. Bonnen to discuss patients and any testing or medications that may be necessary. Our PAs allow us to see patients in the clinic 5 days a week, even when Dr. Bonnen is in surgery. This benefits our patients by expiditing their diagnosis and treatment.

Additionally, Dr. Bonnen's PAs assist him in the operating room with all of his surgical cases and see patients in the hospital.  They are intimately familiar with all aspects of patient including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.  Their participation enhances the level of service and responsiveness in all aspects of patient care.
